Chisso Corporation and Cambrios Technologies Corporation Agree to Jointly Develop Materials for Wet Processed Transparent Electrically Conductive Inks

 

 

 

Chisso Corporation (President: Shunichi Okada, Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo Japan) has agreed to conduct joint development with Cambrios Technologies Corporation (President, CEO: Dr. Michael Knapp, Headquarters: Sunnyvale, CA USA) on materials for creating wet processed transparent electrically conductive inks suitable for the TFT-LCD manufacturing process.

 

 

The transparent electrically conductive inks are receiving particular attention as alternative materials to ITO (Indium Tin Oxide), which is used in flat panel displays, including TFT-LCDs. Trademarked as ClearOhm ™ products, Cambrios' transparent electrically conductive inks are made up of precisely fabricated, long, thin metallic nanostructures and the conventional manufacturing equipment can be used, which has been used to manufacture LCDs.

 

 

Chisso and Cambrios are planning to rapidly adapt the transparent electrically conductive inks to the TFT-LCD manufacturing process, bringing benefits of performance and cost to these devices.

 

In the collaboration, Cambrios will be in charge of development and manufacturing of transparent electrically conductive inks. Chisso will take charge of development of complementary materials, evaluation of transparent electrically conductive inks, and technical support to customers. As part of their agreement, Chisso will have an exclusive right to sell transparent electrically conductive inks for use in the TFT-LCD field.

 

Cambrios has been collaborating with Sumitomo Corporation (President: Susumu Kato; Headquarters Chuo-ku, Tokyo Japan), in market development for sales of its transparent electrically conductive inks and coating films that are used outside the TFT-LCD field. Chisso is also planning to cooperate with Sumitomo Corporation to develop the market for transparent electrically conductive inks used in the TFT-LCD field.
