Magnabeat Incorporated (Head office: Nada-ku, Kobe-shi, President: Noriyuki Onishi), an affiliate of Chisso Corporation (Head office: Chuo-ku, Tokyo, President::Shunichi Okada), launches the sales of thermo-responsive magnetic nanoparticles "Therma-Max^TM LA Avidin" from April 3, 2006.

"Therma-Max^TM" is a suspension magnetic nanoparticles having particle diameter of approximately 100nm developed for use of separation, purification and enrichment of biological materials. Antibodies and proteins can be purified in a short period of time at a high yield only by changing the temperature of the suspension, because of the small particle diameters and the function to reversibly disperse and agglomerate. Therefore, applications can be made in a broad range to immunodiagnosis, inspection of endocrine disrupting substances in the environment and processing of small amount of various specimens of proteins in genome-based drug discovery development.

Magnabeat Incorporated launches the sales of "Therma-Max^TM LA Avidin" which makes it possible to efficiently enrich microorganisms, such as colon bacilli, for diagnostic product makers, and research institutions and universities in which proteins are analyzed. Avidin, a kind of proteins, chemically bonded to the surface of "Therma-Max^TM" has properties to specifically bond with biotin (vitamin H). Therefore, the separation, purification and enrichment can be efficiently performed by modifying various target biological materials with biotin, and processing it with the "Therma-Max^TM LA Avidin".
Moreover, Magnabeat Incorporated has also succeeded in development of "Therma-Max^TM carboxylic acid" which can directly modify biological materials, such as antibodies, not indirectly on the surface.
